Tachistoscope Effect
Tachistoscope Effect
Back in the day, rhythm
slides were new and we used a tachistoscope to flash rhythms on a
screen. The RhythmBee Program uses the latest technology to
place similar demands of "speed reading" on each young musician.
These challenges are highly motivating and great fun for the
youngest and oldest of our students.
Everyone reads the
first page so that we get a good start. Then each student
counts the top measure in turn, and everyone counts the bottom
measure as a tempo stabilizer. That means the assessment
process never has to stop.
The RhythmBee Program .
. .
1. Uses technology to teach:
* Mental and verbal
skills.
* High level reading
practices.
* Rhythm performance as
muscle memory.
2. Is fully adjustable.
3. Is useful for ensemble drill or assessment.
4. Makes a great game (Rhythm Baseball or a Countdown).
5. Requires ensemble and solo internal pulse.
6. Is perfectly timed.
7. Uses structured experience to . . .
*
Teach physical skills.
*
Demonstrate practical theory.
8. Teaches beyond public school needs to ensure
fluency.
It is fun!
Have fun with the sample on this page. Notice the tempo slider and the control you have over the "reveal" time by hovering over the number of beats you wish to reveal the assessment rhythm (top measure).The tachistoscope effect is included in many instructional units of the Elementary, Secondary, and Accelerated Editions. More information about those products is available at the Prices - Products - Services page of this site.
